Cuban judoka Jorge Fiz Castro was the 1987 World bronze medallist in Essen. The heavyweight was bronze medallist at the Tournoi de Paris in 1991. Fiz Castro was Panam champion in 1996 and won the Panam Games in 1987 and 1991. He won more than 10 national titles and countless international events.
