Japanese judoka Ryuju Nagayama took bronze at the 2019 World Championships in Tokyo. Nagayama was World Junior Champion U60kg in 2015 and he won the World Cadet Championships in 2011 in Kiev U50kg. In 2016, 2018 and 2023 he won the Grand Slam of Japan. He took gold at the IJF Masters in 2017, 2019 and 2023 and silver in 2022. He won the IJF Tour in Düsseldorf four times. In 2020 and 2022 Ryuju won the Grand Slams in Paris and Ulaanbaatar. He won the Grand Slam in Ulaaanbaatar also in 2023. He claimed the Asian title in 2022.
