Everyone knows the feeling that you’re watching a judo event and you see an injury that is serious. You may even feel the pain or the frustration that months of preparation are lost in a split second. A Shiver goes through the venue and we all swallow our empathy with the athlete. Remarkably some injuries recover fast, but some remain dangerous. Linda Bolder (ISR) knows all about it.

In February 2014 she got injured in Düsseldorf which took her a year to get back and she made a good comeback and even took gold at the Grand Prix in Samsun a year ago. Last weekend in Tbilisi the moment of pain again crossed our minds.

Bolder: “Last weekend I participated in the Grand Prix in Tbilisi, unfortunately I got injured at my knee, in the first round in my match against Szabina Gercsak. On Tuesday I’ve been tested in the hospital and I was very happy to hear that the injury is not a threat for my participation in the Olympics. It will cost me a few weeks before I’ll be able to do full trainings again. I have already started with my rehabilitation to make sure I will be in the best shape for Rio 2016.”

Good news compared to the image of Bolder we saw on Saturday. The current Israelian is ranked 6th in the Olympic ranking, so no danger for Bolder. Maybe the European Championships come too fast at 22 April in Kazan, but the Masters in Guadalajara in Mexico seemed to be possible.
