No huge surprises in the category U90kg at the European Championships, or is it a surprise that Ilias Iliadis didn't reach the semi finals. He remains vulnerable and lost his match against Polish dark horse Piotr Kuczera. Kuczera then bested Marcus Nyman, another hot prospect. The other semi finallist are less surprising.
Varlam Liparteliani is still the favourite to win the title. He defeated Quedjau Nhabali in the quarter final and will fight Kuczera in the semi final. Also Alexandre Iddir of France and Toth Krisztian of Hungary were expected in the semis, they were supposed to fight eachother as Toth could stand Karolis Bauza in the quarter final and Iddir had some tough matches but survived his pool were also Aleksandr Kukolj of Serbia couldn't prevent him from winning pool D, but was left with an injury and couldn't make his semi final.
