After the victory last year at the European Club Championships, the Georgian team of Sagaredjo Superstars now won the Golden League, the highest team title for clubs in Europe. In the final the Georgian team defeated Yawara Newa by 3-2.

The Russians started with two victories though via Mikhail Pulyaev and Denis Iartcev, but Roman Moustopoulos defeated Murat Khabachirov in the third match and gave Sagaredjo hope. Beka Gviniashvili made the equalizer U90kg against Mikhail Igolnikov and Levani Matiashvili, one of the smallest in the field, bested Renat Saidov, the tallest heavyweight. Matiashvili was Sagaredjo’s hero.

Sagaredjo Superstars began the day with a win against Sporting CP Lisbon, but the Portuguese team came back in the repechage and defeated in their last bout KBR Nalchik for bronze in clear number 5-0. Fighter Tbilisi that lost to Nalchik in the first round, also came back and defeated Shevardeni and the experienced team of TSV Abensberg for the bronze medal by 4-1 with Ilias Iliadis in the team fighting the semi final +90kg, which was lost anyway with 0-4 behind.
