Seven different nations won the titles at the first day of the European Cup for juniors in the Hungarian city Paks. 388 athletes from 33 nations are gathered for the Atom Cup, an event with a huge history. Eight new champions added to that history. Fabio Basile, Andreea Chitu, Bernadette Graf, Lukas Krpalek, Georgii Zantaraia and many famous Hungarians won here in Paks.

Spain was the best nation after the first day, which is a bit surprising and encouraging for the Spanish coaches. Mireia Lapuerta Comas won the category U48kg in an all-Spanish final against Celia Hidalgo Ledo. Nina Esteo Linne took the gold medal in the category U52kg.

The host nation Hungary grabbed the gold in the heavyweight category +100kg by Richard Waczulik. Hungary took silver for women U44kg, but the gold went to Mihaela Chiss of Romania. Croatian Iva Oberan was the best in the category U57kg, the most competitive women’s category of the day.

Swiss Lukas Wittwer bested Maxime Cote (CAN) in the final U81kg and Bosnian Toni Miletic grabbed gold for his country U90kg in his final against Tim Schmidt of Germany. The Germans won gold U100kg when Daniel Zorn defeated Finnish Martti Puumelainen in the final.
