Gusman Kyrgyzbayev stands up as new Kazakh U60kg
in the men’s U60kg category of the Grand Prix in Agadir, it was the two favourites who faced off for the title and the logic of the world ranking was respected as Gusman Kyrgyzbayev (KAZ) dominated the Turkish Bekir Ozlu in a golden score of just six seconds.
In the semi final though Kyrgyzbayev had quite some trouble with Moroccan favourite Yassine Moudatir who gave a great show, but in the last seconds he gave it all away to Kyrgyzbayev who in the end took the gold and Moudatir lost his bronze battle to teammate Issam Bassou who also showed great offensive judo in Agadir.
Goncalo Mansinho of Portugal surprised German Moritz Plafky in the match for bronze. Plafky lost his last two matches and didn’t get awarded for the efforts on the day.
Kazakh judoka Gusman Kyrgyzbayev won his first major prize. In 2016 he won the European Cup Uster (also held this weekend). He took a bronze medal at the European Cup in Saarbrücken in 2017. and won a bronze medal at the Grand Prix in Tunis in 2018 which was a good indication of his capabilities and it offered him the best seed in his class and made that come true again.
For Kazakhstan a new coming men is launched in this category where guys like Yerkebulan Kossayev, Aibek Imashev, Rustam Ibrayev and especially Yeldos Smetov in the recent past.
