Daily Preview Day 3: history in the making for Canada

Day three of the World Championships will give chances to other nations than Japan. Still the Japanese have great athletes in Soichi Hashimoto and Tsukasa Yoshida but perhaps the world will also cheer for other powers such as the Azeri who really have medal chances on this third day with Orujov and Heydarov.

What about Mongolia and Canada. Both have strong contenders in each of the two weight classes. Perhaps it will be Canada day with both Christa Deguchi and Jessica Klimkait fighting U57kg. They are world class fighters, but also Arthur Margelidon is a thrower can who can’t be under estimated.

There are lots of good athletes in this category such as An-Chang-Rim. The last time they fought it was An who won although it wasn't a very convincing win. An fought superbly against Hashimoto's teammate Ono in the 2018 Asian Games. We think An might win his first World gold in Baku.

When it comes to the women, Sumiya Dorjsuren is still strong but we think Deguchi is the number one challenger and she can become Canada’s first World Champion ever in the history.

Nicholas Gill was just inducted into the IJF Hall of Fame but it’s Deguchi who may do it on the tatami this edition of the Worlds. Germany’s Theresa Stoll can surprise and her sister is in this category as well.
