The second day of the Tashkent Grand Prix in Uzbekistan delivered a few surprising finalists. Italian Maria Centracchio is back, and even succeeding at this high level. She had previously never won a medal in the IJF World Tour, with just two World Cup medals in 2015 and 2016 to her credit. Suddenly, after a period of injuries and hard work, anything seems possible in the final in Tashkent for the 24-year old.

-63kg

Final: BALDORJ, Mungunchimeg (MGL) vs. CENTRACCHIO, Maria (ITA)

Both athletes never met before. Baldjorj is more internationally experienced

Bronze Medal Contests

UNTERWURZACHER, Kathrin (AUT) vs. DAVYDOVA, Daria (RUS)

CABANA PEREZ, Cristina (ESP) vs. LESKI, Andreja (SLO)

-73kg

Final: TURAEV, Khikmatillokh (UZB) vs. WANDTKE, Igor (GER)

Turaev won bronze last year in Tashkent but Wandtke has by far more experience

Bronze Medal Contests

AXUS, Benjamin (FRA) vs. BABGOEV, Oleg (RUS)

AZOIDIS, Georgios (GRE) vs. SCVORTOV, Victor (UAE)

-70kg

Final: SCOCCIMARRO, Giovanna (GER) vs. POLLERES, Michaela (AUT)

This is a great final with women who are 2-2 in head2head. Scoccimarro won the last battle when both were juniors, last year in Zagreb

Bronze Medal Contests

GERCSAK, Szabina (HUN) vs. MAYERSOHN, Yarden (ISR)

RODRIGUEZ, Elvismar (VEN) vs. JAGER, Hilde (NED)

-81kg

Final: KHAMZA, Didar (KAZ) vs. NYAMSUREN, Dagvasuren (MGL)

Khamza has always been a promising talent, now 21 and in shape, he won bronze in Abu Dhabi. Nyamsuren though will win his 10th IJF Tour medal and perhaps second victory

Bronze Medal Contests

UNGVARI, Attila (HUN) vs. ZOLOEV, Vladimir (KGZ)

BORCHASHVILI, Shamil (AUT) vs. NTANATSIDIS, Alexios (GRE)
