Turkish cadets conquer gold in Cluj Napoca

The Turkish cadets were amazing at the Cadet European Cup in Club Napoca this weekend in Romania. The Turkey youngsters captured five gold medals and 12 medals in total. Also the Ukraine showed its future judo with nine medals including three titles. Also Hungary showed good form with ten medals but was unlucky in finalizing the gold medals and lost the three finals.

The Ukraine was mainly strong in the boys division with three titles for Mykyta Holoborodko U50kg, Serhii Nebotov U66kg on Saturday and Tymur Valieiev with gold U81kg who also won in Teplice in April. The Turkish boys captured two gold medals by Berat Bahadir U55kg and Musa Simsek U73kg won his second title this season.

Dutchman Nanco Krijthe won the title U60kg and his first European Cup gold medal on day 1. Romania celebrated home gold on Sunday for Alex Cret U90kg. Cret is the biggest talent of Romania. He won European Cup gold this season in Zagreb, Teplice, Follonica and now in Cluj. Last year Cret won gold U81kg, this time U90kg. He was the only athlete who was in the final twice in a row in Cluj and even won it. Young Frenchman Mathias Anglionin (15) closed the day with gold +90kg.

Despite the three gold medals for the Turkish girls, five different nations won gold. Armenia started the series in the lightweights U40kg by Tula winner Susanna Stepanyan. Erza Muminoviq made Kosovo proud with another impressive title U48kg. Ruth Lacy of Israel won gold against Romanian Pasca U52kg. Yana Makretskaya of Belarus won gold U57kg. Georgia’s 14-year old Nino Gulbani won the title U70kg. The three titles for Turkey were achieved by Merve Azak U44kg, who captured her third gold medal this season as she won as well in Antalya and Teplice. Ayten Yeksan won gold U63kg and heavyweight Hilal Ozturk took gold +70kg, for the fourth time this season and really dominates the heavyweight for cadets.
