Ukrainian prodigy Daria Bilodid started judo when she was 6 years old. She is coached by her parents Svetlana Kuznetsova and former European Champion Gennady Bilodid. The double World Champion had a coffee with French TV presenter and judoka Céline Geraud and spoke about judo and other things.

“I liked judo when I started at a young age and I still do, it’s a lifestyle. For me I train all my life with my mom and dad. We had some difficult moments, as it’s not always easy to separate parents and coach. But for me they are both the best coaches. For example when you make some mistakes and mom said it to me, but mom wants to say me something good, but it looks she says something bad as a mom but she is also my coach.

I always control my weight and usually I have to lose 3 kgs. So I can’t eat fast food. Always meat, salads, fruits and chocolate, I can even eat Chocolate. It’s my energy. But there is always control.

Although judo is my focus I have other things to do. I study at University and I like to cook pancakes and sweets. Maybe I open a restaurant in the future.

Am I superstitious? Well, I wear the same t-shirts, same judogi, same belt, for instance when I win I must wear the same t-shirt or judogi in the next competition. I have a small toy, like a small dog in judogi.

I like Ukrainian series to watch about life, but it’s light to watch, it’s humourous. I watch news when I am in my hotel room, I like to post pictures in Instagram. It’s one of my hobbies. I try to make it beautiful, not just pictures, but combine judo photos and lifestyle.

I dream about the Olympic title but I don’t like to speak about the future because I will work hard and we will see what will happen.”
