Marko Spittka welcomed in Uzbekistan as director

Marko Spittka moved as a coach from Bavaria to a technical director position at the Uzbek Judo Federation. In an Instagram post he was welcomed by his athlete. Spittka who was a former coach of the Austrian team, will now work together with Olympic legend Ilias Iliadis who successfully joined the team since 2019.

Spittka is not new to the Uzbek team, he was already an advisor of the president last year. Spittka left the team of Bavaria as Olympic talent coach. The former top Judoka took a bronze medal at the Olympic Games in 1996 in Atlanta for Germany.

Born in Dresden, the top judoka was among the absolute best in the world in the 1990s and was among other things European champion, vice world champion and Olympic third party. He completed his diploma as a trainer between 2001-2003 in Cologne. After his first stint as a regional coach in Bavaria, he was successful as a national coach in Austria for 12 years - since 2015 as head national coach.

At the Tokyo Olympic Games Uzbekistan took a bronze medal with Davlat Bobonov who also captured a silver medal at the World Championships in Budapest last year. In the IJF World Tour The Uzbekistan men booked 10 victories and even the women start to develop well with Grand Slam gold for Diyora Keldiyorova in Antalya last year. This year Murodjon Yuldoshev took a gold medal at the Grand Prix in Portugal.
