Tenth senior title is looming for Croatian judo Kumric brothers

If you’re looking for a remarkable story of brotherly love, look no further than the Kumric brothers of Croatia. Zlatko and Marko Kumric are two brothers who have dedicated their lives to the sport of judo and have earned international recognition for their talents. This weekend at the Croatian Judo Championships the siblings again won a national judo title.

Zlatko and Marko both started judo at the age of six, and their talent quickly became evident. At the age of 18, Zlatko was already one of the top judokas in Croatia and was competing at the highest level. Zlatko is the most experienced, aged 28, and this weekend captured his ninth senior Croatian title.

Heavyweight Marko (26) captured his eighth national time.  The Kumric brothers have become a Croatian sensation for their remarkable success in the sport of judo. Marko Kumric won the gold medal at the European Open in Sarajevo in 2021. He took various medals at European level.

Zlatko Kumric won silver at the Grand Prix Tashkent in 2015 and he took a silver medal at the African Open in Casablanca in 2017. He won multiple national titles when he was still cadet. National champion at 18, but suffered with heart problems according to the doctors, then he won bronze at European Juniors in 2014 and silver at ECH U23 in 2014 and 2015. The brother live in Split and have played more than 350 international contests together.

This weekend they jointly reached another highlight and they the tenth title is looming for Zlatko (9) and Marko (8).
