Tremendous change in IJF World Ranking
In the latest release of the IJF World Ranking list the women haven’t changed many leading positions, but in the men’s category everything looks totally different from now. Yeldos Smetov captured not only the world title at home in Kazakhstan but is now also the new leader of the World Ranking. It’s for the first time since December 2012 that Kazakhstan enjoys an IJF leader. The last one to leave the #1 position was Maxim Rakov. Smetov took over the position of injured Orkhan Safarov (AZE). Ganbat is now 4th.
U66kg Mikhail Pulyaev regained his leading position. Due to the early loss Georgii Zantarai is now third. Rustam Orujov is however still the leader U73kg, despite his absence in Astana. World Champino Shohei Ono is now 4th.
Japanese Takanori Nagase was already close to the top, now he is the new leader U81kg. He won also gold with the Japanese team. He passed Tchrikishvili with just two points, so a small difference, but from now he owns valuable points without a decrease before the Olympic Games.
Another Asian judoka to take the leading position is Gwak Dong Han of Korea, who became World Champion and passed Krisztian Toth. Noël van ‘t End is still second despite his early loss, but didn’t lose points of 2014 either. Mashu Baker is now third, Toth now fourth.
Elmar Gasimov regained his leading position U100kg. Karl-Richard Frey is also in the world Ranking second, but booked a good progress. Krpalek and Peters follow the German silver medallist. “One handed”Toma Nikiforov is 7th followed by world champion Haga Ryunosuke of Japan.
Did anyone expect big changes O100kg? Teddy Riner now leads stable, finally, no one near. Bor and Shichinohe are second and third.
In the women’s division Argentine Paula Pareto is the only woman who climbed to the highest position U48kg. All other weight categories kept their leader before the world championships. Munkhbat is now second U48kg.
Andreea Chitu (ROU), Corina Caprioriu (ROU), Tina Trstenjak (SLO), Kim Polling (NED), Kayla Harrison (USA) and Yu Song (CHN) are still king. For more understandable. Polling was super powerful before the world championships and didn’t lose position compared to 2014. World Champion Emane is now second in the rank. Harrison is still leading with big distance to Velensek and Malzahn. Umeki grew to position 7.
