Finnish judoka Timo Korpiola won many Finnish championships in different weight categories, starting U68 in 1963. Then he competed in U80 and won also U93 in 1971 and O93 in 1972. He didn´t gain weight, he weighed only 78kgs but at that time it was possible to be underweight. After Timo won O93 weighting only 78kgs the rule was changed. Simo Korpiola, his brother, passed away. Kyösti Korpiola is his older judo brother who won various Finnish Championships titles. Pekka Korpiola is their nephew.
