Belgian Judo refereeing expert Franky de Moor started judo following the Tokyo Olympics in 1964. After being so impressed by Anton Geesink (NED) in the final, he was drive. De Moor became the 1971 Belgian Youth Champion only 7 years later. However his competitive career was cut short when he took over the coaching position of his club at the age of 21. Franky’s career as a referee spanned 14 years, including 14 Europeans, 10 Worlds and 2 Olympic Games including Olympic finals.
