Pan American Championships bronze medallist Diana Brenes of Costa Rica competed at world championships. The San Jose judoka has never fought at a Grand Prix or a Grand Slam but has regularly seen action in her own continent and has a growing reputation in Pan America. Diana Brenes (CRC) was number 1 of the IJF World Ranking for cadets and juniors U70kg in 2014 and 2015. She bagged a bronze medal at the Pan American Open in Medellin in 2023 and silver in Guayaguil. She earned a silver medal at the Pan American Open in Varadero in 2024.
