Japanese judoka Hirofumi Yamamoto won the World Junior Championships U20 in 2009 in Paris. He claimed 6 World Cup victories starting Madrid in 2010 and took the Grand Slam in Tokyo twice in 2010 and 2011. Also a Grand Slam victory in Rio in 2011. He won the Kodokan Cup in 2014 and 2015. In 2022 Japanese coach Hirofumi Yamamoto was added to the Chinese Team in the staff of Felipe Sanchez.
